Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 300th Real Madrid goal in the 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano. Let's takes a look at some of the milestone strikes that came before achieving this in no particular order...
After a €94m move from Manchester United, Ronaldo played his first competitive match for Real Madrid in a 3-2 win again Deportivo La Coruna on August 29, 2009. He scored a penalty.
He went on to hit a brilliant 33 goals in 35 games in his first season at Madrid but failed to win a trophy. That would all change in the 2011 season,
Ronaldo's first title with Madrid arrived in 2011 as he scored the winner against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.
In November 2011, he reached the 100 goal mark after just 105 games with this penalty against Lyon.
Ronaldo won his first Liga title under Mourinho in 2012, scoring an incredible 60 goals in 55 games in all competitions. He netted in the final game against Mallorca, making him the first player to score against all the Liga teams in the same season.
Ronaldo's career continued to blossom and he won a second Champions League trophy in 2014, scoring a record 17 goals in the competition that term, with the last one coming in the 4-1 final win over Atletico Madrid.
Cristiano reached the milestone of 200 La Liga goals in 2014-15 from just 178 games and hit a record 23rd hat-trick in the Primera Division versus Celta on December 6, 2014. Both Ronaldo and Messi are currently tied on 24 apiece. (comparison of both coming soon)
Ronaldo then broke Raul's all-time goal record in Uefa club competition with his 77th and 78th strikes in the Champions League win over Schalke on March 10, 2015.
That five-goal haul allowed Ronaldo to reach the 300 career goals mark for Madrid three days later, when he scored in the victory over Rayo Vallecano. After losing his way this spring, the Ballon d'Or winner is back and as good as ever.
After a barren run by his standards, Ronaldo hit form in style with an incredible five goals in a 9-1 rout against Granada on April 5. It was his quickest career hat-trick and the first time he had managed five goals in a game. It was also the first time he had scored four times on two occasions in one season.
Will there ever be someone to challenge the current world best footballer? Story for another time...
